Holiday Traditons

My partner Michelle Hernandez and Idid a good job on our editing. We used transitions that no one else used. I believe it is called a cube spin, it looks really cool. Everyone else just cut right to the next scene but we wanted to make it look more smooth. I also thought we did a good job of getting our message across. We explained our traditions clearly. Our backround images are colorful and nice to look at. In other videos I noticed people going back and forth to eachother like they were having a conversation. I would have liked to do that because it's more entertaining then just stating facts. To create this video, I had to come up with my script and write it down on a big poster board so I could read while speaking in front of the camera. Then, I had to get rid of the green screen on premiere pro and add in our desired background. From there, I edited our scenes to what we fell was necessary to put on the final draft. The last thing I did was make the title screen and end credits. Michelle was a great partner to have. She helped a lot. I can definitelysay the work was split 50/50. It wasn't just one person doing everything. Whatever you see in the video, we both contributed to. If I had another chance to complete this project, I would make it funnier. I would also make it seem as if we were having a conversation going back and forth so it's not just us talkng into the camera. I would make the music a bit softer because it's kind of loud and blocks out our voices sometimes. Other than that, I had fun working with Michelle and we did the best we could with the amount of time that was given to complete this assignment.

Beowulf

When you make a video you can stand in front of a big green screen and once you start you editing you change it to black which allows you to put in any picture you want to make it look like you are somewhere else. When filming with a green screen, you need to make sure nothing else is in the backround and you can't be moving around too much otherwise it will be too hard to edit. Problems that can arise from using a green screen is that if you edit youself too much you can actually disapear. Shadows are a big problem when editing with a green screen because when you change it to black the colors will be off. Adobe Premiere Pro was much easier to use because i'm already used to it and that's what Dr. A had orignally taught us on.

The Truth About Cyberbullying

I'm most proud of how our scenes transition because I think that is cool and not many other groups used them. Comments about our interviews were really helpful because I think we ended up cutting some of them short because people were saying they were too long. On our final video, we changed some titles for the people's names and we also cut some interviews short. If i had another day or two i would try and make some interviewse even shorter. If i could start over, i would get more creative and not be so basic with interviews and the questions because almost everyone did that. Creating videos takes a lot of time and effort. You definitely can't do it by yourself. You need to ask a lot of questions and use your group members to help you out.

Lifting and Extracting Workshop

A simple cut in the timeline means you remove that portion of the clip. When you cut, the other clips in the timeline they stay separated and don't come together.
A ripple edit is removing a portion of a clip, just like a cut. You do this by right clicking the mouse and you will find the option to press ripple delete. When you ripple delete, the other clips to the right of the deleted clip come together so there is no open spaces.
Lifting and extracting are two ways to cut out a clip at one time. To do this, you set an in and out point and then have the option to press lift or extract on the right side of the clip. Lifting is like a simple cut it leaves a gap from where you set your in and out point, while extracting is like a ripple delete when the clips of the right of the cut come together, in terms of what happens to the other clips in the timeline.

Jumping Video

For the most part this assignment was fairly simple. At first I thought it was going to be challenging because i'm not very good with editing clips and all the different names for the tools. I think that overlays are really cool. Overlays look very natural. In the future I would like to use overlays in my clips and videos. An overlay is when you add a clip in the middle of the first one without extending the length of a video. All you have to is put the original clip in the timeline part, then you drag the second clip in the space desired. It sounds much more complicated then it really is.

Baler Interviews

If I could do this project over, I would center the credit part of the video. I centered the title page but forgot to do the credits. I like the way the font looks on the title and credits. I could have chosen better videos. These aren't the best but they're still good. I forgot my paper in class so I had to choose on the spot. Although, I think the videos flow nicely. I like setting the in and out points but found it more difficult to figure out what order to put the videos in. My partner helped me by choose out which videos to use for this project. All in all i'm happy with the outcome.

Intro to SBHS

8/25/11 REFLECTION:
I finally learned how to upload videos to youtube. I had some extra time to work on the enrichment project which taught me to use some special effects.
